Embroidered towel with wool work

Image1.jpg
Description:
The impact of the popular Berlin wool work is also clearly seen on this towel; a wool-worked flower basket with flanking birds has been added to the bottom of the towel, along with two ?corner? designs in the horizontal ?storey? above. Though the corner designs derive from counted cross-stitch, the flower basket has clearly been lifted from a printed pattern likely published by the manufacturers of Berlin embroidery wools.
